... one month too late. I know this post would've created a bigger impact if I'd written it earlier, when the excitement of the first Singapore F1 was still abuzz. But I was too pre-occupied lah, what with exams looming and everything - it just slipped my mind. Anyhow, what I wanted to show was this:
Yup, it's the winning F1 car. It's Andre's, it's remote controlled and I'm sure if you look real close, you can see the 27-year-old Spaniard Fernando Alonso tucked in the seat.
No, we didn't spend a bomb on this baby - it was a birthday present for Andre from a friend of ours, Isabelle. Here's the funny thing: she actually bought this before the F1 race and the only reason she chose the Renault was because she's French! In fact, when she came home with it, her husband told her, "Why on earth a Renault? You should have bought a Ferrari!"
Well! It turned out to be the buy of the season. More accurate than touching the lottery, I think! It did cross my mind that I could auction off this beauty on ebay, make a ton of money and buy Andre a remote control Ferrari with change to spare. But of course I didn't lah. Anyway, after Andre's mad-hared spins with it round our living room and repeated crashes into furniture parts, its front steering is no longer working. So this Renault ain't winning any races any time soon. It will just be our trophy piece.

My 7-year-old is an Alonso fan. And we were sooooo disappointed with this morning's results - just didn't want Hamilton to win. Just because he's Alonso's arch rival. Sigh.
Do you know where we could buy the toy that you featured? It might be a great Christmas gift for my son.
Hi Monica, it looks really cool. What a lovely present!! Andre must love it tonnes. Must admit that I'm not a fan - such a boy thing lah.
Would you believe, we could hear the roar of the engines when they were racing all the way here at Orchard Road!
Yve: I don't know where my friend got it, but she likes to shop at Taka, so maybe you can find it there? Andre is a Hamilton fan! The rest of us don't like him cos he's so cocky.
Ad: You're right, it's a boy thing! I wasn't looking forward to the race, like what's so fun about seeing cars zip round and round and round a track? But must admit in the end, it was quite fun to watch it on tv...
Thanks! Will try Taka.
Yup, Ham is too cocky. Or perhaps it's just insecurity.
Oh... have stopped watching F1 after Michael Schuhmacher and Mika Hakkinen.
I also thought it was a boy thing until a friend explained to us about the pit stop strategies, the overtaking maneuvers and chicane etc...
Quite fun to watch leh... :) I remember my husband and I used to wake up real early just to catch races in M'sia then. We were in Germany.
Of course, the one in Sg not so much overtaking happening. Coz too narrow mah the roads.
Next year ok... we go watch together???
Andre so lucky! Got the first winning F1 car in Sg!
I love remote-controlled cars...
When we were shopping for a gift for a 3 yo boy a couple of years back, Alan wanted to buy a static train set. I was like, huh? I would be so bored if I were to be the boy! I need the remote!!! Am glad we chose the remote-controlled car. The birthday boy had a blast!
I think all boys and girls alike should have at least owned a remote-controlled car. So fun!!! :) Esp when you can bring it to a park and make all heads turn!! :o)
Yah, remote-controlled cars are a real blast, but tough on the furniture! Andre has had too many to count, but this one's really special. But all his cars have shared the same fate under his hands, they all die on him (cannot tahan the manhandling!)
That's a cool car you have there!! My hb use to make his own remote control truck, he has a mill and another dunno what machine in his 'workshop'. But now, he is into assemble of bigger stuff, he assemble his own cruiser. Too bad I dun have a son...;-P.
These are some of the truck that he made.
